Each member brings a unique quality to the group\, from heartfelt romanticism to playful humour and steady dependability. Together they embody the essence of a classic 90’s pop group with exceptional harmonisation skills\, polished stage presence and the ability to connect with audiences. We’re on the lookout for five outstanding male singers with strong harmony skills\, vibrant pop energy\, and the ability to capture the charisma of a boy band. Think Take That in their prime – slick moves\, killer vocals\, and a magnetic stage presence. These five will bring Take That’s iconic hits to life\, acting as the ever-present soundtrack to the girls’ story. No acting experience? No problem! If you can sing\, harmonise\, and bring the energy\, we’ll support you through the process! _______________________________________________________________________________ Please note that the following ages for the female roles are playing ages and to be used as a guide. You may be in your 20’s/30’s but look young enough to play one of the young girls or vice versa. The most important thing is that we match younger to older characters. YOUNG Rachel Female | Playing age: Late teens Rachel is at the heart of the story\, and we hear the story mainly through her. The band are an important part of her life as she navigates her parent’s arguments as a teenager. She is optimistic\, warm-hearted\, and fiercely loyal – the emotional glue that holds her group of friends together. YOUNG DEBBIE Female | Playing age: Late teens The dreamer of the group\, always with her head in the clouds and a heart full of excitement. As Rachel’s best friend\, she is outgoing\, full of life\, and fearless. Her boundless energy and adventurous spirit drive the group forward\, and it’s thanks to her that they get tickets to see The Band perform at the Apollo. YOUNG ZOE Female | Playing age: Late teens The intelligent\, ambitious one – the girl who’s destined for university and has her sights set on the future. A bookworm with a sharp wit\, she’s slightly more reserved than the rest of the group but never afraid to offer a clever remark or insightful perspective. Though she sometimes feels a little out of place\, Zoe is a loyal friend with a dry sense of humour and a quiet confidence that makes her stand out in her own way. YOUNG CLAIRE Female | Playing age: Late teens The athlete of the group\, training to be a diver. She’s reserved yet fiercely intelligent\, known for her deadpan humour and razor-sharp wit. While she may not always wear her heart on her sleeve\, her deeply caring nature shines through when it matters most. YOUNG HEATHER Female | Playing age: Late teens The life of the party\, always ready with a joke and never afraid to be the centre of attention. Confident\, outgoing\, and effortlessly charismatic\, she’s the one who always catches the boys’ attention. With a bold sense of style\, described as a charity-shop Vivienne Westwood\, she aspires to be a fashion designer and isn’t afraid to stand out. _________________________________________________________________________________   ADULT Rachel Female | Playing age: Late 30s – early 40s Reflective\, resilient\, and emotionally scarred\, Rachel is the heart of The Band. Winning the ticket that reunites the girls\, we hear the story mainly through Rachel. Happily living with long-term partner Jeff\, she’s a buried treasure waiting to shine. ADULT Heather Female | Playing age: Late 30s – early 40s Heather is still the bold\, outgoing soul she’d always been\, with a confident high-street flair. In a surprise twist\, she’s no longer into boys and is now happily married to a woman. Authentic\, unapologetic\, and full of life – Heather embraces who she is with pride. ADULT Claire Female | Playing age: Late 30s – early 40s Once a dedicated athlete\, Claire’s life has taken a different path\, and she now finds herself longing for the energy and excitement of her youth. Though her sporting days may be behind her\, her nostalgic spirit and deep bond with her friends remain strong. A character full of humour and heart. A total opposite to the quiet and reserved athlete she once was and nostalgic for her youth. ADULT Zoe Female | Playing age: Late 30s – early 40s Once a bookworm with big academic ambitions\, Zoe’s life took a different direction – she never went to university and is now a dedicated stay-at-home mum to four almost-grown children. Though she’s built a successful life in her own way\, she struggles with vulnerability and navigating motherhood\, all while holding onto the essence of who she’s always been. ________________________________________________________________________________ JEFF Male | Playing age: Late 40s – early 50s Rachel’s partner and a gentle\, good-hearted man. Kind\, supportive and grounded\, he finds himself puzzled by her renewed obsession with her youth and “the band.” Nearing 50 and a little out of shape\, Jeff is a quietly charming presence in her story. THE 6 DAVES Male | Playing age: 20s – 50s (dependant on scene) Meet… all the Daves! This hilarious recurring role features six different Daves popping up throughout the show – Caretaker Dave\, Bus Driver Dave\, Budget Air Dave\, Czech Policeman Dave\, Czech Bus Driver Dave\, and Airport Cleaner Dave. We’re looking for someone with brilliant comedic timing\, great character versatility\, and the creativity to bring each Dave to life in a unique and memorable way! ENSEMBLE Male/Female | Playing age: Any The ensemble in The Band play a vital role in creating the world of the show and bringing the story to life! Whilst this is a small ensemble\, every member will have multiple opportunities to contribute\, taking on a variety of supporting roles such as parents\, teachers\, students\, fans\, and more. These roles provide essential context and energy to the scenes\, ensuring the production feels dynamic and realistic. The ensemble will feature in key musical numbers\, particularly those that require a larger community feel\, such as school scenes or when the action moves to Prague. Whilst some numbers will focus purely on The Band for emotional impact\, there will be other opportunities where the ensemble will enhance the staging\, adding movement and atmosphere to the performance. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n RehearsalsWe rehearse at Leyland Rd Methodist Church Hall\, Leyland Road\, Southport.
