Her luck soon changes when she’s chosen to spend a fairytale Christmas with famous billionaire\, Oliver Warbucks. Meanwhile\, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search for her true family… Who we are looking for? We are on the search for local children to play the role of Annie and her orphan friends. Whether your ‘little girl’ has performed on stage a hundred times or enjoys ‘putting on’ shows at home\, we encourage girls of all experience levels to join us at auditions. Girls minimum age 7 years (at the date of auditions) with a “playing age of 6-13”. Maximum height: 5ft or 152 cm. There is no upper age limit\, but those auditioning should present in appearance and height as 6-13 yr olds. WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR ADULT PERFORMERS 16+ for principal and ensemble roles! AuditionsAudition material will be available on our website in a secure area from 15th November. Please email info@BOSmtc.co.uk after this date to obtain the password. We welcome new members to the society aged 16 years or over. Open auditions will be held on Sunday 29th November from 10am at Leyland Rd Church Hall. There is an audition fee of £10 for non-members. Approximate times will be given for each character nearer the time\, but please make yourself available for the full day. Those girls auditioning for Annie and Orphans will first be required to perform the audition musical number and the audition dance. Children will be required to sing solo. The production team will then consider those auditions and make a shortlist of children who will be called back for a script audition. Those adults auditioning for a chorus role will be expected to sing on their own as part of a small group. The same group will be required to perform the dance practiced at the pre-audition rehearsals in front of a small panel. What if I can’t make audition day? – You stand a much better chance of being cast if you make the commitment to attend in person. Should you be unable to attend and wish to audition via self tape then you are welcome to send a recording of the required script\, song and dance to: info@BOSmtc.co.uk. Please note that your submission will only be viewed if the casting committee are unable to fill that role on audition day. We aim to advise those who have been successful as soon as possible. A full cast list will be posted on our Facebook page on Sunday evening. Show ChargeThis is set at £50 per performer\, and helps toward production costs (Show T-Shirt is included in this cost). Non-members will be required to join BOS as a member if they are successful in obtaining a role within the company. All fees must be paid at the first rehearsal. RehearsalsWe rehearse at Leyland Rd Methodist Church Hall\, Leyland Road\, Southport. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7.30 prompt (children may be called from 7pm) and for several Sundays nearer show week. The first rehearsal is on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm. Everyone is called to this rehearsal. Full rehearsals begin on Tuesday 5th January 2027. Band Call will be on Sunday 16th May 2027 with technical rehearsals at the theatre on Tuesday 18th\, Wednesday 19th\, Thursday 20th and Friday 21st May. If you cannot make these dates you will not be able to be in the show. PLEASE NOTE: ALL cast MUST be available at every Tuesday and Thursday rehearsal. Holiday dates will be taken into account at the time of auditioning. Prospective cast members with excessive conflicts may not be cast. We expect cast to commit to the production. She must be capable of vocal projection without strain. An extremely successful and wealthy businessman with a gruff exterior hiding a surprisingly warm heart. Blunt and bullish\, yet capable of great tenderness\, sharp humour and unexpected vulnerability. Age: 40 to early 50’s GRACE FARRELLOliver Warbucks’ faithful secretary who loves Annie from the start. Grace is mature\, calm\, cool and “together.” She is classy and businesslike when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks\, yet maternal toward Annie. We welcome new members to the society aged 16 years or over. Open auditions will be held on Sunday 29th November from 10am at Leyland Rd Church Hall. There is an audition fee of £10 for non-members. Approximate times will be given for each character nearer the time\, but please make yourself available for the full day. Those girls auditioning for Annie and Orphans will first be required to perform the audition musical number and the audition dance. Children will be required to sing solo. The production team will then consider those auditions and make a shortlist of children who will be called back for a script audition. Those adults auditioning for a chorus role will be expected to sing on their own as part of a small group. The same group will be required to perform the dance practiced at the pre-audition rehearsals in front of a small panel. What if I can’t make audition day? – You stand a much better chance of being cast if you make the commitment to attend in person. RehearsalsWe rehearse at Leyland Rd Methodist Church Hall\, Leyland Road\, Southport. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7.30 prompt (children may be called from 7pm) and for several Sundays nearer show week. The first rehearsal is on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm. Everyone is called to this rehearsal. Full rehearsals begin on Tuesday 5th January 2027. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7.30 prompt (children may be called from 7pm) and for several Sundays nearer show week. The first rehearsal is on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm. Everyone is called to this rehearsal. Full rehearsals begin on Tuesday 5th January 2027. Band Call will be on Sunday 16th May 2027 with technical rehearsals at the theatre on Tuesday 18th\, Wednesday 19th\, Thursday 20th and Friday 21st May. If you cannot make these dates you will not be able to be in the show. PLEASE NOTE: ALL cast MUST be available at every Tuesday and Thursday rehearsal. Holiday dates will be taken into account at the time of auditioning. Prospective cast members with excessive conflicts may not be cast. We expect cast to commit to the production. Publicity and promotion of the show: Every cast member will be expected to participate in all promotion events to publicise the show. Important dates will be announced at the first rehearsal in January.  								\n				\n				\n				\n									ANNIE CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONSAll ages listed are “stage age”\, not necessarily the age of the actor. ANNIEThe title character. Annie is a complex\, tough\, streetwise urchin who is nevertheless vulnerable when she thinks she might lose what has become most important to her: a newfound “family” who loves her. She has to be motherly\, independent\, overwhelmed\, needy\, and hopeful for the future. The actor who plays Annie must be strong vocally and musically. She must be capable of vocal projection without strain. Although she is at times aggressive or crafty\, the audience should never doubt Annie is a friendly and caring child; she will go to any extent to gain the love of a family to which she can belong. Age: 10 to 12. Maximum height: 5ft or 152 cm. ORPHANSOrphans must be able to sing\, dance and act. Girls minimum age 7 years (at the date of auditions) with a “playing age of 6-13”. Maximum height: 5ft or 152 cm. There is no upper age limit\, but those auditioning should present in appearance and height as 6-13 yr olds. These girls are gritty\, neglected and vulnerable\, yet basically honest and potentially lovable. The actors portraying them must be able to have mischievous fun with each other as well as “sibling-style” fights. Each child should be able to create and shape her own character. Need to have vocal strength and be visually expressive. Molly: The youngest orphan\, Annie’s best friend. Spunky and really wants a family. She latches onto Annie for love and protection.6 – 7 years old. Kate: The next-to-littlest and shyest orphan\, who rarely speaks but has a mischievous side. Enjoys playing tricks on Miss Hannigan. 7 – 8 years old. Tessie: The cry baby orphan\, who is known for the line “Oh my goodness”. 9-10 years old Pepper: The bossiest orphan\, who likes to take control and is rivals with Annie. A bully who tends to complain and roughhouse. 11 – 12 years old. July: The quietest orphan\, who is mother-like to all the other orphans. 11-12 years old. Duffy: The oldest orphan\, who often hangs around with Pepper. Usually forced to help Annie break up the fights. 12-13 years old OLIVER WARBUCKSBillionaire businessman who opens his home to Annie. An extremely successful and wealthy businessman with a gruff exterior hiding a surprisingly warm heart. Blunt and bullish\, yet capable of great tenderness\, sharp humour and unexpected vulnerability. Age: 40 to early 50’s GRACE FARRELLOliver Warbucks’ faithful secretary who loves Annie from the start. Grace is mature\, calm\, cool and “together.” She is classy and businesslike when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks\, yet maternal toward Annie. Age: 20 to 35 MISS HANNIGANThe disillusioned orphanage matron. She hates children\, but is fond of alcoholic beverages. Her distaste for her job and the children should be obvious in every line she speaks\, every song she sings and every move she makes. The actor who plays her must have an excellent sense of comic timing. Age: 35-50 ROOSTER HANNIGANMiss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy\, slick con-man. Age: 25 to 35 (Dance experience an advantage) LILY ST. REGISRooster’s girlfriend\, an egotistical gold digger. She and Rooster pose as Annie’s “parents”\, so they can fool Warbucks and get their hands on a $50\,000 reward. Floozy and bimbo. (Dance experience an advantage) Age: 20 to 35 ENSEMBLEAll genders\, All voice types\, ages 16+: Excellent singer/dancer/actors to play various roles around New York City in the 1930’s\, including street vendors\, homeless people\, tourists\, newsboys\, pickpockets\, street cleaners\, Broadway ushers\, news reporters\, and more. They will also appear as Warbucks’s staff who take care of his mansion. Featured ensemble roles include: MR. BUNDLES\, Male\, any voice type\, 30-55: The laundryman who collects laundry from the orphanage. He is friendly to the kids\, but avoids Miss Hannigan’s romantic advances. LIEUTENANT OFFICER WARD\, Male\, 30-45: The policeman who questions Annie about Sandy. APPLE SELLER\, Any gender\, 18+: A homeless person who sells apples on the streets of New York. DRAKE\, Male\, 20-45: Warbucks’s butler. MRS. GREER\, MRS. PUGH\, AND CECILLE\, Females 18+: Servants who work at the Warbucks mansion. STAR-TO-BE\, Female\, 18-25: Featured soloist in “NYC”\, the Star-To Be is a young actress who recently moved to New York City to become a Broadway star. BERT HEALY\, Male\, 20-40: A classic 1930’s radio announcer\, with solo singing in “Never Fully Dressed”. BOYLAN SISTERS\, Females\, 18-30: A trio of 1930’s radio singers\, should be able to hold close harmonies. PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT\, Male\, 40 – 60: The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks. Should be an actor who can convincingly pass as FDR\, has a bit of solo singing and speaking lines. ICKES\, PERKINS\, HULL\, MORGANTHAU\, AND HOWE\, All Males except Perkins\, 30-55: Members of President Roosevelt’s cabinet. JUDGE BRANDEIS\, Male\, 50-55: Attorney & associate justice of the Supreme Court who is hired to help Warbucks legally adopt Annie.
