This is your chance to join the hilariously heartwarming tale of an ogre, a donkey, a princess, and a host of lovable misfits in a production filled with fun, laughter, and incredible music.

The Story
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film,Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrekbrings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.
“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.
Rehearsals
We rehearse at Leyland Rd Methodist Church Hall, Leyland Road, Southport. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7.30 prompt and for several Sundays nearer show week.
The first rehearsal is on Tuesday 24thth June at 7.30pm. Everyone is called to this rehearsal.
Band Call will be on Sunday 12th October 2025 with technical rehearsals at the theatre on Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th, Thursday 16th and Friday 17th Oct. If you cannot make these dates you will not be able to be in the show.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the short rehearsal period, rehearsals will be intensive and at pace. ALL cast MUST be available at every Tuesday and Thursday rehearsal. We understand that this period is in the holiday season and holiday dates will be taken into account at the time of auditioning. However we expect cast to commit the production.

Wow!! What can we say?! We were completely blown away by the talent on show today! We saw nearly 50 people over seven and a half hours and are so proud of every person that auditioned. This was arguably our strongest ever set of auditionees.
